Battle of the Bangers goes out with a bang!
Sunday 17th June saw the 14th annual Norwich Food & Drink Festival take place in and around The Forum, St Peter’s Street and Bethel Street.
This much-loved event was particularly anticipated this year as it marked the very last of The Battle of the Bangers. Yes, you heard us right – after 14 years, we are retiring this legendary competition.
But why! We hear you cry. Well, we are great believers in ‘quit whilst you are ahead’! We would hate for you to say – ‘Oh, we aren’t going to the Norwich Food & Drink festival this year – it’s the same every year’. We are going to think of something equally fun and enticing to whet your appetite for next year!!
Plus, of course, our beloved butchers are burnt out – almost literally in some cases. These guys work their socks off for the day, slaving over hot BBQs, ovens and hot plates serving thousands of pounds of sausages to thousands of hungry visitors.
A huge congratulations to Jamie Archer and his team from Archers, who won both the Public and the Judges votes – a previous winner, this was a popular result. But our sincere thanks to all the butchers who entered and took such time to be part of this fantastic event.
Namely – Archers Butchers, Coxfords Butchers, Pell and Co with the White Horse at Neatishead, Old Hall Farm, The Station Smoke House, The Fruit Pig Company, Back to the Garden, The Norfolk Sausage Company and Tavern Tasty Meats.
Plus, our thanks to Canaccord for their amazing sponsorship and Sarah Daniels and her team from the RedCat Partnership for organising – no mean feat when you consider the logistics of such an event!
SO what next? Well who knows! But rest assured we are already planning for 2019 and we promise something fabulous! And if you have any bright ideas….. well we’d love to hear from you! Please do e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org.
