Long Awaited Date for the Second Patrons Gala Dinner Announced

On Friday 6th July, Norfolk Food & Drink will host the return of a very special and unique fundraising event - the Patrons' Gala Dinner.

By kind invitation of Norwich School, the event will take place in the beautiful and tranquil grounds of Norwich Lower School, overlooked by the majestic Norwich cathedral.

The evening will see some of Norfolk's best known and best loved chefs and restauranteurs assemble to offer guests a truly unique experience - the chance to enjoy their combined culinary expertise all in one meal. In addition, guests will enjoy a lavish reception, spectacular Norfolk cheese board, local coffee and entertainment from Tommy Winn. There will also be an auction of items money can't buy.

Norfolk Food & Drink was established in 2004, with the sole aim of supporting the food and drink industry in Norfolk. Since that time, it has grown year on year and is now widely considered to be the 'go to' organisation for the county’s thriving food and drink community. However, it is entirely not for profit and depends solely on sponsorship and fundraising to continue to deliver this valuable service. The Patrons' Gala Dinner brings together the four high profile patrons and this year's Norfolk Food & Drink Champion, to deliver a sumptuous evening's dining, to raise money for its continued success.

"We are so fortunate to have four incredibly passionate local chefs as our patrons, who are teaming up with our Champion for 2018, Kate Barmby, to create a truly unique and special evening to raise money for Norfolk Food & Drink.

Norfolk is becoming more recognised as a destination foodie county and we owe a great deal to these five chefs for promoting the food and drink industry far beyond our counties boundaries. As an organisation championing the industry, want to present this exclusive evening to you and give you the opportunity to eat and drink the best of Norfolk".

Guests lucky enough to secure a table for this incredible event are promised a truly unique evening. They will be welcomed at the Adnams Reception with a glass of Adnams fizz or award-winning Ghost Ship gin and tonic (or both depending on how thirsty they are!) and canapés from Chris Coubrough, Kiwi Master Chef from ITV’s Coastal Kitchen and proprietor of the Flying Kiwi Inns, award Winning Boutique Hotels along the North Norfolk Coast.

They will then take their seats where they will enjoy a starter created by Richard Bainbridge. Originally from Norwich Richard has worked his way through some of the most amazing Restaurants across the globe, including Norfolk’s Morston Hall before opening Benedicts with his wife Katja in June 2015. In 2015 he also won BBC 2's Great British Menu and returned in 2017 as a Veteran Judge on the program judging the chefs of the central region.

The main course will be presented by patron Nick Mills, Director of Brasted’s and his fellow Director and Executive Chef Chris 'Buzz' Busby and their team. This multi award-winning catering and events company has been a household name in Norfolk for over 30 years and in that time the team have won numerous awards and served thousands of guests including the Royal family.

The dessert is a collaboration of two great cooking minds - Richard Hughes, of The Assembly House and the Richard Hughes Cookery School, and Kate Barmby. Richard is a veteran of Norfolk’s food and drink industry and is loved by so many, whether you have dined at the Lavender House, enjoyed afternoon tea at The Assembly House, attended his cookery school, seen him on TV or read his column in Norfolk magazine. A familiar face to many of us, it is difficult to categorise Kate as she has so many hats and so many talents – mum, nurse, farmer’s daughter, columnist, teacher, cookery writer and former Great British Bake Off Contestant. This year she is also a Champion of Norfolk Food & Drink.

Each of the patrons are multi-award winning and the event offers guests the very rare chance to experience their culinary expertise all in the same evening.

These include Creative Sponge, who have created the beautiful artwork and to Redmonds for all the printed materials, including tickets and programme; Nortons Dairy, Ferndale Cheeses, Fielding Cottage and Mrs Temple for giving their mouth-watering cheeses to create the Norfolk cheese spectacular as well as Candis Chutney for providing the accompaniment; Javabean coffee for the coffee; and The English Whiskey Company who are very kindly donating a bottle of Nelstrops PX fortified wine for every table and English Peonies for the gorgeous flowers on the night.

Tickets are £100 per person and include a G&T and fizz reception courtesy of Adnams, three course dinner brought to you by your patrons, all wines courtesy of NW Brown, Norfolk cheese board accompanied by handmade chutneys from Candi’s Chutney, a bottle of The English Whiskey Company Nelstrops PX fortified wine per table and Norfolk roasted coffee.
