North Norfolk Restaurant raises over £2500 for local Norfolk charity
Socius restaurant in Burnham Market raises over £2500 for local Norfolk charity, Nelson’s Journey.
When restaurant owners Natalie Stuhler & Dan Lawrence opened their first restaurant, Socius, in Burnham Market at the end of February this year, they didn’t just have their business heads on. They wanted to give as much back to the local community as possible and decided to raise money for local Norfolk charity, Nelson’s Journey.
Nelson’s Journey supports children and young people up to their 18th birthday who have experienced the death of a significant person in their life. They provide a range of support, appropriate for the needs of each child or young person which may include one-to-one support and opportunities to meet others their age who have also experienced a bereavement.
The couple have raised money for the charity in various different ways throughout their first seven months of being open, “we decided to add a discretionary £1 donation to every bill which goes directly to the charity” explains Natalie. They also held a ‘Taste of Norfolk’ supper club on Thursday 5th July with all proceeds going to Nelson’s Journey. Local chef and personality Charlie Hodson attended the event as a guest speaker on the evening: “Natalie & Dan should be incredibly proud of what they’ve achieved. For such a young business to put so much effort and passion into raising money for a local charity is incredible, especially when there are so many other things to worry about in your first year of trading.”
Overall the Socius team have raised £2689.00 for the charity. Gena Moore, Corporate Funding & Marketing Officer is thrilled with the team’s hard work: “They should be super proud, it’s an incredible amount of money that will go a long way to changing many young lives in the county.”
From October 2017, Socius will be raising money for a new charity, the Wells Community Hospital Trust. The Wells Community Hospital Trust is a local charity that provides a wide range of flexible and integrated health & wellbeing services for the community.
