Prestigious Restaurants Host School Cooks for National School Meals Week

The concept behind the National School Meals Week is to help change perceptions of school meals in our region and demonstrate how far school catering has come in recent years. Norse cooks had the amazing opportunity to join teams at Warwick Street Social, Benedicts, Socius in Burnham Market and Brasted’s in Framlingham Pigot. They prepared and cooked meals for paying customers at these leading restaurants – an opportunity that, we have to admit, made us quite jealous!

We were of course delighted to hear that the Norse cooks all had a tremendous time in the professional kitchens learning new skills and cooking techniques. In a twist on previous School Meal Weeks, celebrations this year included sharing recipe cards from each of the top chefs with local schools – which, in turn, were shared with parents and the wider community. The recipes were the chefs’ own take on their favourite school desserts, such as Cornflake Tart and Jam Sponge with custard. These are now available on the blog page of the Norse Catering website:
