2018 heralds the fifth year of the FreeFrom Eating Out Awards, so we have gone on the hunt to find out more...
The awards were founded to encourage innovation and celebrate ‘FreeFrom’ excellence in the food service industry - while also recognising the best allergy and gluten-free friendly restaurants, and cafes. The rather wonderful Norfolk Gluten Free Café on Timberhill was a Gold award winner in last year’s Best Café/Tea Shop category.
There are a total of ten judged categories, two of which are new for this year. ‘FreeFrom Newbies’ is for those who have been offering FreeFrom food for less than two years, and the ‘Street Vendors & Take Aways’ category is, you guessed it, for those who offer food on the go.
Here at Norfolk Food & Drink we salute the hardworking FoodsMatter team that deliver these awards alongside the hugely successful FreeFrom Food Awards and the FreeFrom Skincare Awards.
If you have a favourite Norfolk eaterie (be it a fish and chip shop, a pub, café or hotel) that truly understands how to cater safely for food allergic people, why not let encourage them to enter these awards? And if they have learned how to provide guests on a restricted diet with exciting, innovative food to rival their ‘normal’ offering, they might just win a much-coveted award. And you will have played your part in highlighting what a terrific and versatile food and drink industry we have here in Norfolk.
